As the pro-Israeli instigated doxxing campaign enters its final stage the hypocrisy and lapdog-service of our Parliamentarians is sickening.
To be clear - the law is fine in principal and eminently sensible - but similar to Congress in the US - the lobby gets upset about something and boom - Parliamentary lawmakers are right there.
Let’s look at a few leniencies here.

INTRODUCTION
Today (12th Sep 2024) the Attorney-General Mark Drefus presents doxxing legislation to Parliament. The lobby doxx themselves, indisputable evidence proves collusion to silence Palestinian voices, and when the chat is leaked (by their own members) - the Attorney-General says "how high do you want me to jump?".1
It's a bit like the genocide in Gaza. Ignore taking any response (you know - living up to obligations under international law, imposing sanctions, weapons embargo and stuff) - but focus on the fact some people "feel unsafe" because people of good conscience are protesting the genocide, and yes - that might involve a robust exchange since you yourselves are advocating for a foreign state genocide.
But no - again "how high do you want us to jump?".

So a number of responsive and enabling actions thus far:
Federal Parliament
After troublesome pro-Palestine protests at Universities - tactic to obfuscate and silence this is to organise a Senate Inquiry into a Royal Commission on antisemitism at Universities. Let’s ignore free speech. the actual genocide - some people feel unsafe, sure. Whilst we’re at it - here’s a suite of religion-specific “safe spaces” at Universities across the country for you.
Antisemitism? Here’s a large Government “antisemitism department” hiring multiple executive roles. Oh you were a huge pro-Israeli advocate? Well no problem - it’s up to you how you define antisemitism. Why don’t we do it at one of our 11 Friends of Israel Parliamentary groups?
Flying to New York as a pro-Israel lobbyist to meet Israel state officials and rubbish the UN and international law as an extension of Israeli State policy into Australia? That’s fine - oh, and expense those flights and enjoy tax-free charitable status for your organisation Jeremy.2
Exemption from the Foreign Influence Transparency Scheme - conveniently a loophole through that tax free status we gave you as a double bonus. And anyway, the Attorney-General wouldn’t dream of bothering you with the paperwork as it’s in his Department.
State Parliament
Someone said “gas the Jews” at the Opera House? NSW Premier Chris Minns (notably attending the first AIJAC funded trip to Israel in 2003 with none other than Scott Morrison and Bill Shorten3):
November 2023: No point in checking - let’s immediately change hate laws based on that
December 2023: NSW Labor MP suggests unclear what was said - and waiting until police finished verifying - Minns slaps him down in public4
February 2023: NSW Police found the claim to be false.5
Again - how high?
And then Minns and Vic State Premier Allan attended glittering Israel Day celebrations on 30th May, giving gushing speeches - whilst Gaza literally burned.
📞 WhatsApp collusion to silence pro-Palestinian voices
Ok - so first off - indisputable collusion on WhatsApp by powerful pro-Israeli groups to silence pro-Palestinian voices. Nothing to see here, let's ignore this shall we?
🇦🇺 Dec 2023: The lawyers and the broadcaster
Perpetrators: WhatsApp pro-Israeli lawyers group.
Target: Pro-Palestine ABC radio presenter.
ABC Journalist Antoinette Lattouf is sacked from the ABC after sharing a human rights post on her personal Twitter (that the ABC actually reported on themselves).
The instigators were colluding group of pro-Israel lawyers via a WhatsApp campaign because she spoke out on Israel.6
🇦🇺 Feb 2024: The creatives and the writer
Perpetrators: WhatsApp pro-Israeli creatives group.
Target: Pro-Palestine writer.
Writer Clementine Ford cancelled from multiple events, publisher after speaking out on the Palestinian cause.
The instigator was a colluding group of pro-Israeli creatives again using Whatsapp to co-ordinate.
One of their own group leaked the messages, placed on a filesharing site by unknown parties and Ford shared the link so people could see for themselves the co-ordinated approach.7
🇺🇸 May 2024: The billionaires, the mayor and the students
Perpetrators: WhatsApp US business billionaires group
Target: Pro-Palestine students at Columbia via NYC Mayor
In the US - a WhatsApp group of wealthy pro-Israeli business titans actually pressured the Mayor of New York to send the riot police to Columbia University to shut down pro-Palestine protest.8
And in all the above cases - the rare odd reports in the press and no follow up. Certainly no legal proceedings.
Can you imagine if this were the other way round?
On to doxxing.
🕵️♂️ Doxxing: A tale of two standards
So Ford publishes a link to the fileshare someone else posted literally so people can see for themselves the collusion, as The Daily Mail did with the pro-Israeli lawyers. The difference is there were full names in the fileshare.
The lobby goes crazy demanding the doxxing law be changed. Nothing about the WhatsApp collusion against two prominent creative industry pro-Palestinians - about the audacity to reveal it.
But hang on - rewind to 1998. The pro-Israeli Lobby themselves dox 2000 One Nation Party Members, providing not just their names but the towns they live in.9
So … the hypocrisy is astounding in the case for having this law changed - in particular with the earlier leverage of the false statements at the Opera House to have another law changed.
In particular when you consider:
the motivation for the doxxing of the pro-Israeli WhatsApp group and the pro-Israeli legal action - was exposing the action of individuals colluding to have someone sacked for a view that pro-Israeli lobby didn’t like and responding to the fear that this action is possible to punish collusion to silence individuals for a view the pro-Israeli lobby does not like
the motivation in 1998 for the pro-Israeli lobby doxxing people themselves - was that a legitimate elected Australian political party held a view that they did not like. Furthermore - the damage was much more acute in view of the numbers involved (2,000 - and would have been all 10,000 without media outcry) INCLUDING the location of those members.
But hey - ignore the genocide, let's stop pro-Palestine voices at Uni. Oh and ignore the WhatsApp collusion to silence pro-Palestine voices, let's change doxxing but don't look back at our record.
