It's Israel, stupid
As sanctions and boycotts on Israel are at a pivot point - who can tell those sanctioning that it's not just about a ceasefire - structural change is needed in Israel before sanctions should end.
Summary
UEFA were about to vote to boycott Israel from the competition but put their vote “on hold” due to the Trumpanyahu Peace Plan — it really begs the question: what is the understanding of these bodies - and others in general - of when to start and stop a boycott of Israel? That the true condition to end such a boycott over a ceasefire is structural change in Israel. Which the Trumpanyahu plan does NOT do. And is this widely understood?

Trumpanyahu “Peace Deal” 27 Sep 2025: a one-sided ceasefire with all the onus on the Palestinians plays into the Israeli narrative and implies there is no accountability for Israel.
The actual root-cause needs addressed for sustainable peace.
Israel must be treated as South Africa was during apartheid and systematically boycotted until there is institutional, legal and societal change in Israel. This must extend to diaspora - and be Jewish led - and their enablers.
That’s the STOP BOYCOTT condition that must be clear to all institutions including most recently UEFA in conducting such exclusions - a just and sustainable peace must be the end state to agree to lift sanctions on Israel not just a short-term sop that suits Israel and the US.
1. Introduction
The Trumpanyahu 20 point “peace plan” read out at their joint Press Conference on the 29th September was a truly cringeworthy moment.
What could you expect from the guy committing the genocide in Gaza, and the guy who gave him the weapons and political expediency to do so?
Completely one-sided for Israel and no involvement from the Palestinians never mind addressing clear self-interest from the Trumps (see Appendix A: Trumpanyahu’s 20 point peace plan for a more detailed break review of the plan).
And missing the elephant in the room self-evident to everyone with eyes - where’s the accountability for Israel? It almost mirrors the situation in the UN Security Council where all accountability for Israel is excused by the US Veto vote - no matter what they do. Which is why the “guarantor” of such a plan being the US is completely inappropriate.
It’s hardly as if this is a sop to get Netanyahu and the Israelis to sign up and then hit with the hammer of global sanctions later - unlikely to say the least with the US institutionally locked in to supporting Israel.
However - a key outcome is that short term it gives the Palestinians respite from the two years of horror they have been subjected to.
And let’s face it - for those in power - confrontations, sanctions, domestic protest are … inconvenient. Western powers who were just stepping into light sanctions territory appear to be lining up behind this “deal” as an out.
And so did UEFA - Europe’s football body who were about to vote on excluding Israel from competition as they did at the drop of a hat for Russia in 20221.
“Let’s hang fire on the Israel boycott vote - so can we all go home now?” - says UEFA as the word “peace” is bandied around by two aging psychopaths collectively known as Trumpanyahu.
Let’s not get hung up on whether it’s a real “deal” or not … it begs the question - other than the amorphous terms “ceasefire”, “peace” ….
It’s indisputable that Israel’s horrific record against the Palestinians has been a major contributor and any rhetoric of “eternal peace” and so forth must entail systematic change in Israel also.
Which begs the question:
do these organisations and individuals really know what they are boycotting to achieve? in which case…
what are the start / stop conditions for a boycott? in which case…
it it actually sustainably effective against what Israel has been doing?
I use the term “boycott” for any action against Israel - boycott, diversification, sanction, protests. What are the minimum exit criteria?
Because we know if Hamas sign up to the Trumpanyahu deal - that will change NOTHING. There is zero impetus for Israel to make any concessions even in the short term never mind the sustainable long term - which they haven’t. Never mind any acknowledgement of Palestinian perspective, their suffering - or involvement by Palestinians. Which says it all.
Recapping the “inconvenience” for institutions in boycotting or sanctioning Israel - the most facile exit criteria would be accepted as the way out - “because Hamas agreed to a peace deal”.
2. November 2023: why didn’t we stop protesting then?
I remember attending the regular Sunday pro-Palestine protest in Sydney in November 2023. The Australian right-wing Murdoch press were having a field day demonising the protestors as they have every day since for two years.
There was a tiny “humanitarian pause” window negotiated2 (which lasted six days 24 - 30 Nov 2023) - and their angry call then was - “there’s a ceasefire - why are you STILL blocking up our streets protesting?” (I’ve reproduced a Facebook post from the time answering that question in Appendix C.)
This is what it feels like now. The canary was UEFA pausing its vote on whether to expel Israel or not in view of Trump’s Gaza “Peace Plan”.
Nobody can see the bigger picture of Israel’s history that necessities internal change in parallel with changes for the Palestinians for a just peace.
3. It takes two to tango
Let’s assume Hamas accept the plan.
Does that mean that UEFA say - great - no need for the vote to ban Israel now we’re all good.
Do the Hollywood A-Listers start working with Israeli productions again? No Music for Genocide begin streaming in Israel again? Reebok happy to sponsor the Israeli national side? Western Governments shelve all the mostly symbolic “sanctions” of limited trade etc. and normalise again with Israel? Before their interception, would Greta and the Global Simud Flotilla have turned around?
Of course not.
But how do we communicate a “stop boycott” end point to institutions and civil society groups who frankly don’t know enough and think the word “ceasefire” or “the greatest peace in our civilisation” (sic) signify immediate cessation because hey - boycotting is inconvenient.
Those institutions are swallowing the Israeli narrative hook line and sinker - the “but Hamas” - it all started on October 7th and Hamas and hence the Palestinians are 100% to blame. A “Balfour Agreement 2.0” has been agreed under the table.
We all agree the genocide - or if you don’t like that word, the systematic killing of tens of thousands of civilians - is a horrendous thing and worth boycotting until it stops.
But without root-cause changes in Israel (take it as read Hamas step back/disbanded) nothing will change. And the Trump bullshit in addition to being unworkable doesn’t acknowledge this - it doesn’t even acknowledge Palestinian civilian suffering, barely a mention of Statehood, using the weasel words “THEIR aspiration” - never mind acknowledging the occupation.
4. The golden calf: Israel’s external defenders out in the open
Surely the genocide has caused people to take stock? People now know what Israel is capable of. People know the appalling lies they tell and have been caught out multiple times in the last two years.
But more than that - the external enablers are out in the open - ensuring the flow of weapons, funds and so forth to Israel - and it’s clear that as part of any “peace deal” these too must be ended or at least properly regulated.
People see the organised manipulation in western governments and civil society by actors on Israel’s behalf enabling a pro-Israel attitude to enable such brutality.
People know what AIPAC is and what it does to American politicians and who has paid the price for speaking up.

They know about “Friends of Israel” groups aligned with political parties and politicians as another touch point of manipulation.

People know the meaning of a term they don’t want you to know - Zionist - and that that word is mutually exclusive from “Judaism”.
They know about Christian Zionism - “my God tells me they are the chosen people and must be in Israel for the second coming”.
And all meaning one thing: supporters of some or all of the above or just outright racists have the mantra - no matter what Israel does - it can do no wrong. This is a self-evident truth from the unspeakable horror unfolding on our screens unchecked and worse supported.
And so it was for two years until recent months.
5. Eyes wide open: the pattern is clear to see
And with the full modus operandi enabling Israel now in the public eye - noting it has always been there - the last 75 years of the brutal regime prior to October 7th, never mind what has happened since - can be better understood.
As UN Secretary-General was quick to point out on October 24th 2023 regarding the Hamas attacks and the brutal Israeli response - “it did not happen in a vacuum”3.
And it’s a repeat cycle for Israel. The disproportionate response and “but Hamas” language used as the collective punishment revenge deaths on Palestinians mounted up are more prevalent the further back you look.
5.1. Operation “Protective Edge” (2014)
In 2014 Operation “Protective Edge” massacred 2000+ Palestinians after Hamas launched limited rockets into Israel. Israel’s heavy-handed response was criticised around the world at the time - and the ICC opened an unprecedented case investigating Israel in 2021 - even after the head of Mossad threatened the ICC Chief Prosecutor at the time4. Deja vu?
5.2 Israeli repair PR - 2016 and now
Israel’s reputation suffered such a blow at the time that in response various changes in PR were made. New groups were formed such as the UK’s much criticised Campaign Against Antisemitism which played a key role in UK Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn’s downfall. And the IHRA definition of antisemitism was formulated in 2016 which notably framed criticism of Israel an antisemitic as the “catch 22” that has been leveraged since - and in the “spike” in antisemitism statistics since October 7th when you scratch the surface.
Incidentally you could consider the IHRA definition development and the CAA as “drastic measures” meant to repair Israel’s reputation after the global shocks at the time of the 2014 massacres that went round the world.
After two years of genocide in Gaza from October 7th I expect new “drastic measures” for PR will take affect - in fact they already are. With the social media landscape changing in Israel’s favour with a staunch Zionist taking over traditional media (CBS/Paramount, possibly Warner) and also most probably TikTok together with a softer stance to Israel from Elon Musk. New drastic PR measures in a modern landscape. You can read more on the TikTok deal in the original substack article below:
5.3 Operation Cast Lead (2008)
In 2008 Israel committed the atrocity Operation Cast Lead called a “heavy-handed massacre” by Amnesty International in its subsequent report - the Israelis then of course pleading it was all started by Hamas rocket attacks.
Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame was the spokesperson for a human rights group presenting the findings from a People’s Tribunal on Palestine to the then Secretary-General Ban-Ki Moon in the General Assembly - using the same language we have heard on the October 7th attacks.
🎥 Roger Waters addresses the United Nations 24th November 2012 (Insta video):
5.4 History is repeating and Israel is becoming more extreme
That was just two examples to illustrate the same pattern, protection and modus operandi around Israel’s actions. The point being - to recognise this behaviour - and for people new to seeing Israel’s horror - retrospectively looking back at other events confirms the truth with this new perspective of the very worst Israel is clearly capable of.
History is repeating - yet Israel is not static. In fact - Israel is getting more extreme and acting with more impunity - starting from 2018 with the “Basic Law” introduced to ingrain Jewish supremacy even further and determine settlement to be a “national value”.
So rhetoric regarding October 7th as being “unprecedented in Israel’s history” are false. Circumstances led to massive amounts of civilian casualties on the day - and even they are under question - but the preconditions by the structure of the Israeli State and society remain the same.
6. It’s Israel, stupid.
Taking Bill Clinton’s famous 1992 election mantra “it’s the economy stupid” to point out the truism - against this pattern of behaviour, evidence - you want to change Palestine? It’s ISRAEL stupid!!!
Evidence, correlation, past behaviour, recent precedent - and enabling forces outlined in the earlier section excusing Israel’s behaviour for years.
The root-causes have been outlined in too many UN resolutions, reports, NGO reports to name and summarised in the ICJ ruling of illegality last July5. A summary of some of the findings against Israel over the years I have compiled from the ground up can be found in the article below:
It’s Israel stupid.
Never mind “Hamas disbanding, Palestinian Authority Reform” …. Israel itself HAS to reform also for a just and sustainable peace.
7. It’s conditioned into Israelis
But what is perfectly clear to those watching the genocide unfold, is not clear to the majority of Israelis themselves - short of “yep, Netanyahu abandoned our hostages” or “fresh election”. That won’t cut it.
And furthermore according to recent polling the majority of Israelis are still behind the actions of the IDF and outcomes for the Palestinians.
So not only do you need to change Israeli institutions, laws - but the very thought processes of society itself.
This was outlined perfectly in an article by Israel magazine +972 - the denazification of Israel6.
Whilst these reforms are not even on the table - Israel must be boycotted like the pariah state South Africa was during Apartheid - for at its root - that is what it is - if South Africa was a huge military state with South Africa lobbyists in every single government lobbying for them to lock in political control and leveraging a religious calling to excuse their actions.
Not every White person in South Africa was a racist apartheid supporter just as not every Israeli is of that persuasion with regard to Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians.
But structured reform for all is the only way.
8. Board of Peace: Accurate Terms of Reference
Installation of a new Government, commitment to law reforms, societal education, Truth & Reconciliation must all be committed to BY ISRAEL.
The rest is clear and outlined in the ICJ ruling - withdrawal from the Occupied Territories (and Gaza now), payment of reparations, right of return … all clearly defined - underpinned by a mindset change. On both sides. The issue is - Israel can see no wrong in its approach. And that’s the crux.
So in addition to checkpointing the staged demilitarisation of Hamas - structured societal form in Israel needs checkpointed also - to ensure both sides are keeping their end of the bargain.
And this is what a proposed “Board of Peace” should be overseeing - not a waterfront development by billionaires and rebranding of the existing Israeli Government Department COGAT (Co-ordination of Governing Activities in the Territories) - which is what the Trump/Netanyahu horseshit deal is.
9. Step it up
So no - don’t stop those boycotts - INCREASE them - no matter which way Hamas goes.
Israel must be sanctioned continuously as an apartheid regime until there is structured, meaningful societal and institutional change.
At a societal level this means both inside Israel and also with those supporting in the broader diaspora. And that reform needs led by the Jewish community - including reclaiming and properly redefining the term “antisemitism”.

It also means registering, removing, controlling Israeli influence in western countries. Parliamentary bodies and political parties globally need to ensure they unpick the foreign influence from their MPs - symbolised in the UK, US, Canada and Australia by the ridiculous almost right of passage trips to Israel.
Our eyes are open. Don’t let two genocidal snake oil salesmen use their softest voices to sell a white elephant to the world and continue as before.
APPENDICES
Appendix A: Trumpanyahu’s 20 point peace plan
A quick review and comment on the points in Trumpanyahu’s 20 point plan. Which reads like it was knocked up on the back of a fag packet.
The “plan” was presented at a delayed press conference between Trump and Netanyahu on 29th September. The text was released just before the conference and developed upon in some remarks. Notably Trump and Netanyahu did not take questions and shut down the conference immediately afterwards. Not much beyond the back of that fag packet.
Some commentary below.
A.1. General points
The big one - apparently no Palestinian involvement in any of the points being put forward.
Trump gives his allegiances - over AIPAC and Miriam Adelson overtures for his true sponsors - using the terminology “our hostages” several times including during the announcement of the peace plan. He has conversely also in the past used the term “Palestinian” as a derogatory term.
Why is the plan being put forward by Israel the actual implementer of the genocide and the US the principal backer? It should be put forward by another party and the US should act as guarantor. You can’t trust either of these two further than you can throw them.
Furthermore - any redevelopment of Gaza should exclude investors or companies associated with members of involved parties - including the Trump family.
There is NO accountability for Israel for its own structural societal reform which has been the principal cause of this after decades of brutal apartheid and abuse. There is not even mention of Israel breaking international law with its settlement building - the irrefutably UNSC2334 from 2016 demanding then for cessation of settlements. The Trump administration even ignores this UNSC Resolution and takes a supportive view of settlement. Which is another reason they should absolutely NOT be involved in the peace and restructure that needs to happen.
Trump even boasted during the press conference with Netanyahu that he moved the embassy to Jerusalem in 2018. This is an antagonistic move that breaks the Vienna Conventions on the location of embassies and is currently before the ICJ for a ruling.
He has also recognised the Golan Heights in his first term - and has a hill there named after him. No wonder he is “the best friend Israel eve had” - and why - dare I say it again - they cannot be involved in future peace direction with this prejudices against international law.
Bibi: “the Trump Administration is the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House” - looks conspirationally at Trump - “and both you and I know its not even close”
There is NO accountability on Israel for its crimes since October 7th or crimes prior to that which MUST be looked at again by the international community now their true nature has been exposed to the world.
And the obvious insanity. A man who is wanted for war crimes with an arrest warrant issued by the ICC for murderous acts towards the Palestinians was reading these terms to the Palestinians.
A.2 20 Point Plan Wording and Commentary
1. Gaza will be a deradicalised terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbours.
2. Gaza will be redeveloped for the benefit of the people of Gaza, who have suffered more than enough.
3. If both sides agree to this proposal, the war will immediately end. Israeli forces will withdraw to the agreed upon line to prepare for a hostage release. During this time, all military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardment, will be suspended, and battle lines will remain frozen until conditions are met for the complete staged withdrawal.
4. Within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting this agreement, all hostages, alive and deceased, will be returned.
5. Once all hostages are released, Israel will release 250 life sentence prisoners plus 1,700 Gazans who were detained after October 7th 2023, including all women and children detained in that context. For every Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel will release the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.
Comment: Does this include Marwan Barghouti - who could be the unifier for a renewed Palestinian Authority? (needs a new name)
6. Once all hostages are returned, Hamas members who commit to peaceful co-existence and to decommission their weapons will be given amnesty. Members of Hamas who wish to leave Gaza will be provided safe passage to receiving countries.
Comment: I would imagine because of the intense emphasis on “eliminating Hamas” made during the campaign that if Israel gets the chance to identify any member of Hamas and can quietly assassinate them outside Gaza they will do so. Mossad will be busy - unless this guarantee is written into an adjusted agreement over just “safe passage” transit.
7. Upon acceptance of this agreement, full aid will be immediately sent into the Gaza Strip. At a minimum, aid quantities will be consistent with what was included in the January 19, 2025, agreement regarding humanitarian aid, including rehabilitation of infrastructure (water, electricity, sewage), rehabilitation of hospitals and bakeries, and entry of necessary equipment to remove rubble and open roads7.
8. Entry of distribution and aid in the Gaza Strip will proceed without interference from the two parties through the United Nations and its agencies, and the Red Crescent, in addition to other international institutions not associated in any manner with either party. Opening the Rafah crossing in both directions will be subject to the same mechanism implemented under the January 19, 2025, agreement.
Comment: I presume this rules out the GHF medium term - whom I assume will have a scaled phase-down as they must be do something at least.
9. Gaza will be governed under the temporary transitional governance of a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee, responsible for delivering the day-to-day running of public services and municipalities for the people in Gaza. This committee will be made up of qualified Palestinians and international experts, with oversight and supervision by a new international transitional body, the “Board of Peace,” which will be headed and chaired by President Donald J Trump, with other members and heads of State to be announced, including Former Prime Minister Tony Blair. This body will set the framework and handle the funding for the redevelopment of Gaza until such time as the Palestinian Authority has completed its reform program, as outlined in various proposals, including President Trump’s peace plan in 2020 and the Saudi-French proposal, and can securely and effectively take back control of Gaza. This body will call on best international standards to create modern and efficient governance that serves the people of Gaza and is conducive to attracting investment.
Comments: where do you begin?
"Board of Peace” - this is clearly giving Trump his dream role - “Chairman of the Riviera Redevelopment” he so championed. He made such as fuss of saying “I didn’t want to be involved…” that it’s obvious. Also obvious was his inclusion of his son in law developer Jared Kushner in the room at the announcement. Ostensibly as being involved in the Abraham Accords - but more recently on his excited view on a redeveloped Gaza waterfront. Watch for his “nomination” to the Board of Peace.
Also considering roles in a technocratic authority or Palestinian roles on the “Board of Peace”. What is a “qualified Palestinian”? How is that vetting done? This could be absolutely key. Do they need to pledge Palestinians do not / never had a right to resistance? Do they have to swear to recognise Israel’s right to exist - in its current form?
This is a one-sided view of the situation and puts the “blame” for October 7th and every other conflict solely on the Palestinians - when in fact Israel’s current structure and culture are the real root cause.
So a name bandied around for the Board of Peace has been Marc Rowan. Rowan is the CEO of Apollo Capital and corralled all the rich Ivy League donators to withdraw their funding after pro-Palestine protests on the campuses. More recently he organised another funding block at another Ivy League because they were planning a Palestinian cultural festival.
So is an anti-Palestinian culture Zionist considered a “qualified” person?
Reform of the Palestinian Authority
So again noting that there was no similar statement of reform for Israel, and that one of the creators of the peace plan blocked the PA Head from attending the UN General Assembly when statehood was voted on - what is this “reform”?
I will look back on the Trump 2020 plan mentioned and also the Saudi-French plan - but Netanyahu has some clear ideas on this in his remarks after the conference.
removal of “pay to slay” payments for those who kill Jewish people (eminently sensible - but this could be argued to be a widows pension depending on the actual amount)
remove textbooks from schools demonising Israelis (seems sensible if true?)
“end lawfare raising cases against Israel at the ICC and ICJ” - so Palestinians don’t have a right to international law?
10. A Trump economic development plan to rebuild and energize Gaza will be created by convening a panel of experts who have helped birth some of the thriving modern miracle cities in the Middle East. Many thoughtful investment proposals and exciting development ideas have been crafted by well-meaning international groups, and will be considered to synthesize the security and governance frameworks to attract and facilitate these investments that will create jobs, opportunity, and hope for future Gaza.
Comment: as before excluding Trump family interests (Jared Kushner) and pro-Israel lobbyists (Marc Rowan, Apollo Capital)
11. A special economic zone will be established with preferred tariff and access rates to be negotiated with participating countries.
12. No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and those who wish to leave will be free to do so and free to return. We will encourage people to stay and offer them the opportunity to build a better Gaza.
3. Hamas and other factions agree to not have any role in the governance of Gaza, directly, indirectly, or in any form. All military, terror, and offensive infrastructure, including tunnels and weapon production facilities, will be destroyed and not rebuilt. There will be a process of demilitarization of Gaza under the supervision of independent monitors, which will include placing weapons permanently beyond use through an agreed process of decommissioning, and supported by an internationally funded buy back and reintegration program all verified by the independent monitors. New Gaza will be fully committed to building a prosperous economy and to peaceful coexistence with their neighbors.
14. A guarantee will be provided by regional partners to ensure that Hamas, and the factions, comply with their obligations and that New Gaza poses no threat to its neighbors or its people.
15. The United States will work with Arab and international partners to develop a temporary International Stabilization Force (ISF) to immediately deploy in Gaza. The ISF will train and provide support to vetted Palestinian police forces in Gaza, and will consult with Jordan and Egypt who have extensive experience in this field. This force will be the long-term internal security solution. The ISF will work with Israel and Egypt to help secure border areas, along with newly trained Palestinian police forces. It is critical to prevent munitions from entering Gaza and to facilitate the rapid and secure flow of goods to rebuild and revitalize Gaza. A deconfliction mechanism will be agreed upon by the parties.
Comment: Is this the 20,000 Indonesian troops the Indonesian President mentioned in his UN GA speech?
16. Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza. As the ISF establishes control and stability, the [Israeli military] will withdraw based on standards, milestones, and timeframes linked to demilitarization that will be agreed upon between the [Israeli military], ISF, the guarantors, and the Unites States, with the objective of a secure Gaza that no longer poses a threat to Israel, Egypt, or its citizens. Practically, the [Israeli military] will progressively hand over the Gaza territory it occupies to the ISF according to an agreement they will make with the transitional authority until they are withdrawn completely from Gaza, save for a security perimeter presence that will remain until Gaza is properly secure from any resurgent terror threat.
Comment: This is very subjective - Netanyahu’s “open ceasefire” - where he reserves the right to strike at will as he has remained doing periodically at will in Lebanon. Netanyahu can easily claim conditions haven’t been met to refuse to withdraw, restart hostilities. Oh and … false flags…
After the White House statement Netanyahu gave an Israeli television interview where he said as much - that they would not withdraw and hold the security perimeter to a time undefined.
17. In the event Hamas delays or rejects this proposal, the above, including the scaled-up aid operation, will proceed in the terror-free areas handed over from the [Israeli military] to the ISF.
18. An interfaith dialogue process will be established based on the values of tolerance and peaceful co-existence to try and change mindsets and narratives of Palestinians and Israelis by emphasizing the benefits that can be derived from peace.
Comment: this reads like Americanised condescending bullshit. Sorry.
19. While Gaza re-development advances and when the PA reform program is faithfully carried out, the conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood, which we recognize as the aspiration of the Palestinian people.
Comment: Weasel terms - “we recognise it’s an aspiration” - not that “it’s your right and doesn’t need earned” which is the reality. There is no mention of a two-state solution and Netanyahu dead against it, won’t happen. In which case - what’s the point?!
And to those who say - dismantle Israel and move to one-state Palestine restored I say - some iteration of this is a natural end state. Just as I think that the Irish Question will be resolved similarly - with two-state being an interim solution. So there must be recognition of a two-state solution - interim for now.
20. The United States will establish a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a political horizon for peaceful and prosperous co-existence.
Comment: The US has no place doing this. Do they not appreciate that any Palestinians will forever associate any US official as someone who kept supplying the bombs to Israel to commit their wholesale atrocities? It just couldn’t have happened without them. How can they ever see the US as a peacemaker?
Because it’s not peace.
It’s surrender.

Work in progress
B.1 Current
No Music for Genocide - cultural boycott of Israel - encouraging artists to geo-block their music from streaming services in Israel. There is an FAQ page dealing with issues - but the exit criteria are not discussed. e.g. a struggling Israeli artist making a symbolic block - when can I restore my stream to Israel?
Game over Israel - campaign to get the heads of Football Federations globally to issue a ban on Israeli clubs, players and the national football team. Backing the campaign are various civil society pro-Palestine groups:

It is this group who has pushed the question for UEFA on a boycott of Israel.
In Düsseldorf in August the transfer of an Israeli player to local side F95 was cancelled after some of the player’s early tweets on Gaza came to light.

But they still need some guidance in the reality of Israel proceeding with a sustainable peace.

Appendix D: Why are you still protesting? There’s a ceasefire you idiot! (FB post from 26 Nov 2023)
Thought I’d reproduce a Facebook post from 26th November 2023 during a humanitarian pause after complaints in Australian newspapers, from the New South Wales Premier at “continued disruption in the streets”. Did they really think this was resolved?8
Devil’s Advocate Question: “why are you still protesting? there’s a ceasefire you idiot!”
As I head to another rally today in Sydney, a whole myriad of reasons.
D.1 Current Situation AFTER Oct 7
Duration and then back to genocide
No there isn’t a “ceasefire” there is a 4 day temporary truce, With a potential extension on Israel’s terms of a maximum of a further 25 days - 1 day for each 10 hostages should that be negotiated (c. 300 hostages in total).
Thereafter back to murderous indiscriminate bombing, blockading civilian aid, mass evictions - all in breach of international consensus through ….
Israel ignoring the UN resolution 15 Nov
The UNSC resolution over and above “humanitarian pauses” (which on the surface of it this one is) clearly called for a broad set of humanitarian requirements (never mind international law) that Israel would CONTINUE to violate should the bombing continue.
I’ve posted actual wording of resolution and key points here, it’s pretty clear. I encourage anyone to refer to this to take emotion out of the debate.
D.2 Ongoing situation BEFORE Oct 7
Finally the crimes committed ONGOING by Israel for decades, quietly ignored by the world have been laid bare and made transparent.
People who have never protested before (me!) are out on the streets in outrage at the existing situation and the history. I was sickened almost 10 years ago at the 2014 indiscriminate bombing that killed a “mere” 2000 Palestinian Gaza civilians, now being investigated by the International Criminal Court - ICC and regret I wasn’t a more vocal advocate then.
The situation to date is clearly laid out in the annual report the UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine here delivered to the UN on 21 Oct, coincidentally after 7 October - a clear and unbiased legal review of the situation9.
This MUST stop - and we MUST keep the momentum going to finally address this, shaming Western governments for supporting this as we’ve shamed them as the indiscriminate bombing post 7 October continued.
D.3 “But I’m in Australia mate - we don’t want that sh*t here; what does it have to do with us?”
The principles involved here in supporting a one-sided pro-Israeli agenda are shocking - if you accept these very visible actions on this platform, what does that mean for how we allow our Government to behave on Australian domestic issues? Areas involved:
Taxpayers - our taxpayers dollars are being used to fund / aid the illegal activities by Israel
Political - our Government continues to lapdog the US in its blind support for Israel no matter what they do. As Australian citizens in a democratic society you are free to speak up on international policy as you would domestic.
Domestic Influence: Lobbying our MPs/Journalists - intensive pro-Israeli lobbying of our MPs and journalists has been going on for years, essentially an enabler to the behaviour of Israel - trying to shut down domestic free speech and providing one-sided media reporting (next two points) - more on lobbying here (comment: this was an earlier note on grassroots investigations in to the pro-Israel lobby at the time - now a full research article as the extent of the lobby reach became more apparent “Australian pro-Israel lobby: modus operandi”).
Freedom of Speech modern day McCarthyism - how can powerful groups whisper the word “anitsemitism” to shut down all criticism of Israel, and discredit the individual with serious consequences. This is a dangerous precedent - if we don’t hold Israel and supporters to account for this we really risk a slippery slope on free speech.
Media Manipulation & Bias - there is just incredible bias in the media, and single lens portrayal of events to suit a pro-Israeli narrative. It’s easy to see the pattern (NewsCorp case in point), bias and defaming (ABC Q&A) whilst those same journalist attend and don’t declare paid trips to Israel (Crikey, Media Watch).
I’ve seen for myself the single lens - having attended two peaceful, non-antisemitic rallies to day with tens of thousands of people women, children, all nationalities - to see the only pictures published being of muscled, tattooed bearded men shouting and the odd offensive placard. I was there. BS.
Human Rights - in the cold light of day, how can you honestly turn your back on indiscriminate bombing and brutal treatment? The standard you scroll down from is the standard you accept.
The above sums up to Justice and Fairness - or as we are so fond of saying in Australia - “a fair go”
For your own humanity the protests must continue.
