Palestinian sacrifice and the end of democracy
Everything has come into focus with developments in Syria overnight.
It’s pretty apparent that Netanyahu has been simply executing a grand strategy all along with October 7th being the excuse. There was never any possibility of a ceasefire. All he’s been coldly logically doing is destroying the supply chain from Hamas right back to Iran - via Lebanon, Syria. Next up Iraq and finally Iran itself. Watch this space.
The US is basically the guarantor of the plan via supply and political expediency and Congress held captive through religious ideology and AIPAC. And with Trump’s Israeli1 or pro-Israeli billionaire backers2 and cabinet appointments - literally pro-Israeli fanatics - it’s locked in.3
There was never any possibility of the US stopping Netanyahu with almost 100% bipartisan support behind Israel4 - or they literally lose their jobs as AIPAC now openly admit.5
I’m actually pretty down on the pretence of institutional bodies being able to do anything6, the notion of human rights and democracy in general right now…. with the Palestinians literally sacrificed in the face of a grand strategy “for the greater good”.
Unprecedented civil society protests weren’t listened to globally and were in fact demonised, attacked and silenced. And the empirical evidence of this is in full public view.7 But the investigations and legislation8 are not of corrupt manipulation on behalf of a foreign state but of convenient interpretations of “antisemitism”.9
Democracy as we know it is only going to erode further taking the lead from Trump and I think Dutton will get in and we’ll see a similar dynamic to Trump/Morrison that tied Australia in to the US more and also entrenched insidious Israeli influence even more in this country10. This has only become too apparent over the last fifteen months - the AIPAC of Australia only behind closed doors.11
Unfortunately for the Palestinians - annexation, settlement expansion and expulsion is the next step. The eventual expulsion will no doubt driven by a response to the next atrocity (which will happen). I will be surprised if they are there at all in the next 3-5 years.
I’m left with nothing but despair for humanity.
